About

This is a site where I put some of the things I do…

I’m currently a Postdoc researcher working on an ERC Consolidator project called,’Digital Crossings in Europe: Gender, Diaspora and Belonging,’ which is based at the Media and Culture Studies Department at Utrecht University’s Humanities Faculty.

I received my PhD from the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam on migration and digital media in 2015. My research was an ethnographic study of how  second-generation Iranian Americans in Los Angeles use web media applications, and it focused on the ways digital media play a role in how issues of collective memory, racial discrimination, and transnational connections are changing for this new generation.

I’m also a feminist, trade unionist, and a lover of Iranian food.
